Hans joined Peck Smiley Ettlin in 1982 and became a partner in 1991. As a principal of PSE Architects, Hans Ettlin led the design work of the firm for nearly 30 years. His work has largely dealt with civic institutions; fire stations (60), medical facilities, city halls and churches. To them he has brought both architectural expression and a keen sensitivity to the nature of civic use. His buildings have an elegant simplicity based on the beauty of material and precisely crafted construction. His work is noted for its highly organized plans and its honest use of structure and abundant natural light.
